Stored XSS via unsanitized code-block HTML
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Stored XSS in ChuanhuChatGPT at git commit 20b2e02 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via a crafted chat history upload. The chat-history upload sanitizer mishandles HTML tags inside code blocks, leaving attacker-supplied script markup in stored content. Remote authenticated users can plant the payload, but JavaScript runs only when another user opens the affected history, exposing browser-session data to reading or modification.
