Stored XSS via insufficient SVG sanitization
Published Sep 25, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in GutenGeek Free Gutenberg Blocks for WordPress 1.1.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via SVG uploads. The SVG upload path accepts attacker-controlled SVG content without sufficient input sanitization and serves it without adequate output escaping. Author-level access is required to store the payload, which executes in a visitor's browser when the uploaded SVG file is accessed.
