Unauthenticated file read and deletion via path traversal
Published Oct 12, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Path traversal in Iptanus File Upload 4.24.11 and earlier allows remote attackers to read or delete arbitrary server files. The wfu_download_file() function derives a file path from attacker-controlled request parameters and cookies, then opens it without confining it to the intended directory. Unauthenticated exploitation requires a WordPress host running PHP 7.4 or earlier and exposes files readable or deletable by the web-server account.
