Stored XSS via unescaped box shortcode attributes
Published Sep 25, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in the box shortcode in WPZOOM Shortcodes 1.0.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject web scripts. The shortcode handler inserts user-controlled type and size attributes into generated box markup without sufficient sanitization and output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store the payload, which executes in a visitor's browser when the affected page is opened.
