Stored XSS via unsanitized Custom JS setting
Published Oct 8, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
Stored XSS in Smash Balloon Custom Twitter Feeds before 2.2.3 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via plugin settings. The Feeds panel stores the Custom JS setting without sanitizing or escaping its value, then emits the saved payload on posts or pages. Administrator privileges are required, and the flaw remains exploitable when unfiltered_html is disabled, including in WordPress multisite deployments.
