CVE-2024-8859Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file read via DBFS source validation

Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025

Path traversal in MLflow before 2.17.0 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary local files through crafted DBFS model sources. The model-version source validator checks only the parsed URL path, so an encoded query delimiter can hide dot-dot segments that later enter file-URI resolution. Exposure requires a tracking server with DBFS configured and mounted to a local directory; successful requests disclose files readable by the server process.
