Administrator escalation via trusted username substring
Published Sep 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Privilege escalation in Medialibs Webo-facto 1.40 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain WordPress administrator access. The doSsoAuthentification function promotes any logged-in nonadministrator whose username contains '-wfuser', treating the user-chosen substring as proof of an SSO account. Unauthenticated registration must be enabled; registering that username and signing in is sufficient to obtain full site administration.
