Code execution via stripped Mark-of-the-Web
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Dec 2, 2024
Mark-of-the-Web bypass in WinZip 28.0 (15640) 64-bit allows remote attackers to execute code through an archive opened by a user. When WinZip opens an archive bearing Mark-of-the-Web, it removes the marker from the archive and fails to apply it to extracted files. Exploitation requires user interaction to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, after which code runs in the current user's context.
