Unauthenticated root code execution via command injection
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Dec 3, 2024
Command injection in Cohesive Networks VNS3 before 6.2.8 and 6.6.0 through 6.6.6 allows remote attackers to execute code as root. The TCP port 8000 web service passes an improperly validated user-supplied string to a system call. Control-plane access to port 8000 is required; authentication is not, and successful injection runs arbitrary commands with root privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=6.2.3-20240417
