Unauthenticated password reset via missing identity verification
Published Sep 24, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Unverified password change in BA Book Everything 1.6.20 and earlier allows remote attackers to reset any WordPress user's password. The reset_user_password() function sets a generated password without verifying that the requester owns the targeted account. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the generated password is not disclosed, so the effect is account lockout rather than account takeover.
