CVE-2024-8770Network attack vector

Sensitive information theft via repository-transfer XSS

Published Sep 23, 2024 · Updated Sep 23, 2024

Cross-site scripting in affected GitHub Enterprise Server releases allows remote authenticated users to steal sensitive information via social engineering. GitHub has not disclosed which repository-transfer field reaches an HTML context or how its output encoding or sanitization fails. An attacker needs repository-transfer privileges and must induce another user to view crafted transfer content; the bounded consequence is theft of that user's sensitive information.
