CVE-2024-8769Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file deletion via unnormalized run hashes

Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025

Path traversal in Aim 3.15.0 through 3.27.0 allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files through the tracking server API. The LockManager.release_locks function appends an attacker-controlled run_hash to lock directories without normalization, then unlinks any resulting paths that exist. The tracking server must accept the crafted instruction, and deletion is limited only by the server process's filesystem permissions.
