Server hang via unchecked regular-expression execution
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Regular-expression denial of service in Lunary before 1.4.23 allows remote attackers to hang the server via a crafted check pattern. The check evaluator passes the attacker-controlled params.regex value to JavaScript's backtracking RegExp engine and tests it against stored run content, allowing pathological patterns to monopolize the event loop. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation blocks request processing without reported data disclosure or modification.
