Reflected XSS via unescaped add_query_arg URL
Published Oct 10, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Reflected XSS in Easy Social Share Buttons 1.4.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts through crafted URLs. The settings code uses add_query_arg to construct a URL and exposes the result without context-appropriate output escaping, allowing URL input to enter rendered markup. Exploitation requires a victim to follow an attacker-controlled link; the injected script then runs in that browser's page context and can read or modify page-accessible data.
