CVE-2024-8725Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unrestricted CSS and JavaScript upload

Published Sep 26, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Unrestricted file upload in Advanced File Manager 5.2.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to enable stored XSS via CSS or JavaScript. The file-manager entry points in class_fma_main and class_fma_shortcode let permitted lower-privileged roles upload .css and .js files into arbitrary WordPress-root directories without enforcing file-type restrictions. Exploitation requires Subscriber-level access, an administrator-granted file-manager permission, and the Advanced File Manager Shortcodes plugin; successful uploads can execute stored script in a visitor's browser.
