CVE-2024-8696Network attack vector

Code execution via crafted extension URLs

Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024

Code injection in Docker Extensions in Docker Desktop before 4.34.2 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted extension URLs. The extension details interface processes attacker-controlled publisher-url and additional-urls metadata, but Docker has not disclosed the unsafe operation that turns those values into code execution. A user must interact with a malicious extension; Docker reported no exploit-bearing extension in its marketplace.
