CVE-2024-8691Network attack vector

Authenticated user impersonation via incorrect portal authorization

Published Sep 11, 2024 · Updated Sep 11, 2024

Incorrect authorization in PAN-OS 9.1 before 9.1.17 and 10.1 before 10.1.11 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate users. The GlobalProtect portal accepts an authenticated user's identity substitution without correctly authorizing it; the underlying logic is undisclosed. A malicious GlobalProtect account is required; exploitation disconnects an active impersonated user and records the victim's identity in PAN-OS logs, concealing the attacker's identity.
