CVE-2024-8688

Arbitrary file read via CLI symbol handling

Published Sep 11, 2024 · Updated Sep 11, 2024

CWE-155 in the PAN-OS CLI allows authenticated administrators, including read-only administrators, to read arbitrary firewall files. Palo Alto Networks has not disclosed the CLI command or parser locus, crafted input, or matching symbols that are neutralized incorrectly. Access requires an authenticated administrative CLI session, but a read-only role is sufficient and the consequence is confidentiality-only arbitrary file disclosure.

Exploitability

Present is not the same as exploitable

Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
