CVE-2024-8676Network attack vector

Host access via unchecked checkpoint bind mounts

Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2026

Improper authorization in CRI-O before 1.29.11, 1.30.0 through 1.30.7, and 1.31.0 through 1.31.2 allows attackers to mount host paths. CRImportCheckpoint trusted bind mounts from checkpoint metadata instead of requiring matching mounts in the CRI create request. Access to the kubelet or CRI-O socket and checkpoint support is required, after which a crafted archive can expose arbitrary node files or directories.
