CVE-2024-8641Network attack vector

Account impersonation via Dependency Proxy session cookie

Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 13, 2024

Session-token exposure in affected GitLab CE/EE releases allows remote authenticated users with a victim's CI_JOB_TOKEN to impersonate that victim. The Dependency Proxy authentication response leaves session storage active, so a bearer token derived from the job token causes GitLab to issue the victim's session cookie. Exploitation requires possession of another user's job token and user interaction; the resulting session permits actions as that user and limited service interruption.
