CVE-2024-8577Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Memory corruption via unbounded static DHCP description

Published Sep 8, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in TOTOLINK T8 and T10 firmware 4.1.5cu.861_B20230220 and 4.1.8cu.5207 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory. The setStaticDhcpRules handler in /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi fails to bound the attacker-controlled desc field to its destination buffer. Access to the router management interface is required; malformed input can corrupt the CGI process, but public evidence does not establish a repeatable post-overflow outcome.
