Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped block attribute
Published Sep 30, 2024 · Updated Oct 1, 2024
Stored XSS in Ultimate Blocks before 3.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through crafted Expand block attributes. The Expand Portion block writes its attacker-controlled displayType attribute into frontend markup without validation or output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to save or submit the block, and the script executes when another user views the rendered content and hovers over the affected text.
