CVE-2024-8480Network attack vector

Authenticated arbitrary file upload via unchecked chunk handler

Published Sep 6, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Missing authorization in the Sirv WordPress plugin 7.2.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to upload arbitrary files. The sirv_upload_file_by_chunks_callback function accepts chunked uploads without proper file-type validation after sirv_save_prevented_sizes fails to enforce a capability check. Contributor-level access is required, and impact is limited to arbitrary server file placement unless the uploaded format is executable.
