VPN traffic decryption via clear-text debug logging
Published Jan 6, 2025 · Updated Jan 6, 2025
Information disclosure in OpenVPN Connect for Android before 3.5.0 allows physically proximate attackers to obtain a VPN private key. The application writes a configuration profile's private key in clear text to its debug log when the profile is applied under ADB debugging. Access requires an unlocked device with Developer Mode and USB debugging enabled and timely logcat capture; the exposed key enables VPN traffic decryption.
