CVE-2024-8449

Password resets via hard-coded recovery credential

Published Sep 30, 2024 · Updated Sep 30, 2024

Hard-coded credentials in PLANET GS-4210-24PL4C and GS-4210-24P2S firmware allow physically proximate attackers to reset any user's password. The password-recovery function accepts a credential embedded in firmware and uses it to authorize password changes without prior authentication. Physical serial-console access is required; affected firmware is before 2.305b240719 on hardware 2.0 and before 3.305b240802 on hardware 3.0.
