CVE-2024-8408Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated router compromise via services_array stack overflow

Published Sep 4, 2024 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in Linksys WRT54G 4.21.5 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt router memory via a crafted POST. The validate_services_port function in /apply.cgi parses services_array entries without an effective length bound before copying an entry name into a fixed-size stack buffer. Access to the router's web-based management utility is required, and successful exploitation can disclose or alter router data and interrupt service.
