CVE-2024-8387Network attack vector

Code execution via undisclosed memory-safety defects

Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 6, 2024

Memory-safety bugs in Firefox before 130, Firefox ESR before 128.2, and Thunderbird before 128.2 allow attackers to execute code via network input. Mozilla ties the rollup to three internal defects; the public references identify unsafe PlainOldDataSerializer behavior but do not disclose the other erroneous operations. Network delivery requires no authentication, and successful memory corruption executes code in the application's context; Thunderbird disables scripting while reading mail, limiting exposure there.
