CVE-2024-8374

Arbitrary code execution via 3MF property evaluation

Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 3, 2024

Code injection in UltiMaker Cura 5.7.0-beta.1 through 5.7.2 allows context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted 3MF file. The 3MFReader plugin passes the archive's drop_to_buildplate property to Python eval(), treating attacker-controlled data as executable Python. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious model file, after which code runs with the Cura process's privileges.
