Unauthorized group additions via missing REST capability check
Published Sep 25, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Uncanny Groups for LearnDash 6.1.0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to add users to groups. The /wp-json/ulgm_management/v1/add_user/ REST endpoint accepts a Group Leader request without checking the capability required to add the specified user. Group Leader access is required; adding a privileged account to a controlled group enables a chain with CVE-2024-8349 that grants Administrator access.
