Cross-site scripting via unescaped search filenames

Cross-site scripting in affected GitLab CE/EE releases allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser. The global-search command palette passes repository filenames through highlight() into a v-safe-html sink, so HTML embedded in a filename is rendered rather than escaped. An authenticated attacker must create a crafted filename, and a victim must open a merge-request diff, search for it, and click the resulting overlay; the script then runs in the victim's GitLab origin.
