CVE-2024-8309Public exploit

Database compromise via unvalidated LLM-generated Cypher

Published Oct 29, 2024 · Updated Oct 15, 2025

Cypher injection in LangChain's GraphCypherQAChain allows attackers to read, alter, or delete connected graph database data. The chain places untrusted natural-language input into an LLM prompt and executes the resulting Cypher query without validating its operations. Exploitation requires exposed prompt input and database credentials powerful enough to access or mutate the targeted data.
