Unauthenticated account takeover via unverified order email
Published Sep 6, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Privilege escalation in WP-Recall 16.26.8 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over accounts through unauthenticated order creation. The commerce order-creation class trusts a submitted user_email value and passes an attacker-supplied password into the existing user's update path without verifying identity. The commerce add-on must be enabled; successful exploitation resets the selected account's password and grants its access.
