CVE-2024-8248Network attack vector

File read and write via unchecked move paths

Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025

Path traversal in AnythingLLM before 1.2.2 allows remote authenticated users to read and write files in the storage directory. The document move endpoints join normalized source and destination values to the storage path and pass them to fs.rename without verifying containment. The CNA reports manager-to-administrator escalation, while the upstream patch describes the affected operation as administrator-only.
