Authenticated command execution via disk-source parameter
Published Aug 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link DNS and DNR NAS and NVR appliances allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via f_source_dev. The cgi_FMT_R12R5_1st_DiskMGR function in /cgi-bin/hd_config.cgi passes the attacker-controlled disk-source argument into a command without neutralizing shell syntax. Access to the affected CGI is the reported gate, and successful exploitation grants command execution with the appliance service's privileges.
