Command injection in D-Link NAS and NVR firmware through 20240814 allows remote attackers to execute operating-system commands. The cgi_FMT_Std2R1_DiskMGR function in /cgi-bin/hd_config.cgi uses the f_newly_dev parameter in a command context without neutralizing metacharacters. Published assessments disagree on whether authentication is required; successful exploitation runs commands with the CGI process's privileges on end-of-life appliances.
