CVE-2024-8207

Host-level code execution via relative library search paths

Published Aug 27, 2024 · Updated May 16, 2025

Process control in MongoDB Server 5.0.0 through 5.0.13 and 6.0.0 through 6.0.2 allows local users to execute code via library loading. The Build component embeds relative RPATH entries in server binaries when dynamic builds are not selected, causing Linux's loader to search directories a local user can populate. Exploitation requires host-level access, control of a searched directory, the affected Linux installation layout, and a subsequent server start; loaded code gains full control of the server process.
