CVE-2024-8177Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service outage via unbounded Harbor response parsing

Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 26, 2024

Denial of service in GitLab CE/EE before 17.4.5, 17.5.3, or 17.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to exhaust server memory. Gitlab::Harbor::Client.get accepts an unbounded response body from the configured Harbor server and passes it to Gitlab::Json for in-memory parsing. Reachability requires authenticated access and an active attacker-controlled Harbor integration; repeated oversized replies can make the instance unreachable.
