CVE-2024-8162Network attack vector

Unauthorized Telnet access via hard-coded password

Published Aug 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024

Hard-coded credentials in TOTOLINK T10 AC1200 4.1.8cu.5207 allow remote attackers to gain unauthorized access to its Telnet service. The firmware stores a fixed Telnet-user password in /squashfs-root/web_cste/cgi-bin/product.ini instead of relying on an operator-controlled secret. Network reachability to Telnet and knowledge of the embedded credential are sufficient; public material establishes access but does not specify the resulting account privileges or available commands.
