Command injection in D-Link NAS and NVR appliances through 20240814 allows remote authenticated users to execute operating-system commands. The cgi_FMT_R5_SpareDsk_DiskMGR function in /cgi-bin/hd_config.cgi passes attacker-controlled f_source_dev data from an HTTP POST request into a command without neutralizing shell metacharacters. A low-privileged session is required; injected commands can read, modify, or interrupt appliance data and services.
