Authenticated command execution via cgi_unzip path injection
Published Aug 24, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2024
OS command injection in D-Link NAS and NVR appliances through 20240814 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via HTTP POST. The cgi_unzip handler in /cgi-bin/webfile_mgr.cgi incorporates the attacker-controlled path value into a shell command without neutralizing command separators. Access to the authenticated file-management request is required, after which injected commands can read, modify, or interrupt stored data and services.
