Unauthenticated resource access via unrestricted DuckDB queries
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
SSRF in Vanna with DuckDB allows remote attackers to access internal or external resources through crafted SQL queries. The Flask API stores supplied SQL through update_sql, then run_sql passes it to DuckDB without blocking read_csv, read_text, or related URL-reading functions. Exposure requires a DuckDB-backed deployment that accepts untrusted queries; the resulting requests can disclose local or internal data.
