Authenticated command execution via traceroute argument injection
Published Aug 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 22, 2024
OS command injection in TOTOLINK T8 firmware 4.1.5cu.862_B20230228 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The setTracerouteCfg handler builds a traceroute command with sprintf from input that bypasses Validity_check, then passes it to system. Low-privileged management access is required, and successful injection runs commands with the firmware service's privileges.
