Stored XSS via forged administrator settings request
Published Sep 12, 2024 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Stored XSS in MM-Breaking News 0.7.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject script through an administrator-targeted CSRF request. The settings handler at wp-admin/options-general.php?page=mm-breaking-news/mm-bnlist.php accepts mm_bnlist_title[] without a CSRF token, sanitization, or output escaping and stores the supplied markup. An administrator must open attacker-controlled HTML that submits the request; the stored script then executes in later page views and can read or alter data available to the viewer.
