CVE-2024-8047Network attack vector

Settings modification via missing CSRF validation

Published Sep 17, 2024 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in Freaking Wildchild Visual Sound 1.06 and earlier allows remote attackers to modify plugin settings. The settings update handler accepts state-changing requests without performing a CSRF check, causing requests from attacker-controlled content to run in an administrator's authenticated WordPress session. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to interact with attacker-controlled content, and the demonstrated consequence is limited to changing this plugin's settings.
