Cross-customer empty group creation via unchecked requests
Published Sep 9, 2024 · Updated Sep 9, 2024
Missing authorization in Rapid7 Insight Platform before August 14, 2024 allows attackers to create an empty group in another customer. The group-creation flow accepts intercepted local requests that set a new group's name and description without confirming authorization for the destination customer. Exploitation requires adjacent access, high privileges, and user interaction; the bounded result is an unauthorized empty group in the wrong customer.
