Tainted image deployment via automatic TLS bypass

Improper certificate validation in Red Hat OpenStack Platform 16.2 and 17.1 allows remote attackers to deploy tainted images via a registry MITM. The Director's container-image connectivity check treats TLS verification failure as grounds to mark the registry insecure or disable verification while mirroring. Exploitation requires control of the registry network path; undetected malicious images can then run across deployed OpenStack nodes.
