CVE-2024-7995

SYSTEM privilege escalation via untrusted search path

Published Nov 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2025

Untrusted search path handling in Autodesk VRED Design before 2025.2 allows local users to execute code as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. When a malicious binary is downloaded, the application resolves executable code through an untrusted search path and loads attacker-controlled content. Exploitation requires user interaction with the crafted file and grants code execution at the Windows SYSTEM privilege level.
