CVE-2024-7971Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Sandboxed code execution via V8 type confusion

Published Aug 21, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Type confusion in V8 in Google Cloud Google Chrome before 128.0.6613.84 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted HTML page. Google has not disclosed the incompatible object types or V8 operation that misinterprets them; the mismatch corrupts heap memory. A target must load attacker-controlled content, and resulting code execution is confined to the Chromium renderer sandbox unless paired with a sandbox escape.
