Administrative access via spoofed underscore header
Published Sep 4, 2024 · Updated Nov 11, 2025
Authentication bypass in Pulpcore behind Apache with Gunicorn before 22.0 allows remote attackers to gain administrative access. The puppet-pulpcore Apache configuration removes the hyphenated remote-user header but fails to remove its underscore form, which older Gunicorn accepts as the trusted REMOTE_USER value. The exposed Pulp API must use the certificate-authentication proxy configuration; a successful spoofed request is treated as the mapped administrator.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
