Authenticated command execution via unsanitized syslog server
Published Aug 18, 2024 · Updated Aug 19, 2024
Command injection in TOTOLINK X6000R 9.4.0cu.852_20230719 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via rtLogServer. The setSyslogCfg handler in /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi copies rtLogServer into a command buffer and passes it through CsteSystem to execv without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Low-privileged management access and rtLogEnabled set to 1 reach the flaw, granting command execution in the router service context.
